DNA evidence may assist the prosecutor in cases of uncharged misconduct or prior bad acts. Cases previously uncharged because of the unavailability of DNA typing may be reexamined where the evidence is still in existence. DNA matches to these older cases may provide useful evidence of motive, method of operation, lack of mistake or accident, or any other accepted theory of admissibility, even where the statute of limitations precludes filing charges.
