In a Canadian case, [Beamish v. Her Majesty The Queen, [R. v. Beamish, [1999] 43 W.C.B. (2d) 202; 1999 W.C.B.J. 626821 (Can.) law enforcement discovered several white feline hairs on the jacket of a woman whose body had been left in a shallow grave. Through DNA testing, the hairs were identified as matching the suspect’s parents’ cat “Snowball.” Investigators discovered the suspect lived with his parents.  The defendant was subsequently found guilty by a jury of murder, and his conviction was upheld by the Appeal Division of the Prince Edward Island Supreme Court.
