Attribution of Responsibility

An important focal point of opening statements is attribution of responsibility to the defendant. Whenever appropriate, the prosecutor should reference what the defendant did, what injuries the defendant caused, and how the defendant appeared to the victim at the time of the crime.  The use of DNA evidence may be of great value in linking the defendant to the victim
