The greater the number of loci yielding conclusive results for a profile match, the lower the RMP will be. Sometimes it is more convenient to express the RMP as an inverse, or reciprocal, of probability. For example, the reciprocal of a probability of 0.00008333 is 12,000 (1 / 0.0000833). Prosecutors can use the reciprocal of the RMP number as expressing the number of times this evidence profile would be expected to be seen in a general population; i.e., 1 in 12,000 means you can expect 1 in every 12,000 persons in the general population to have this profile.
