The FTCoE scientific team is composed of creative, innovative members who are articulate in forensic science and hold key positions or memberships in organizations within the forensic science community. In addition, this team has a proven history of providing unbiased scientific credentials and respected expertise across all forensic disciplines. The FTCoE is dedicated to elevating the status of forensic science through:
Identification of the current technology and educational needs of the forensic science community
Development and implementation of sustainable strategies that address those technology and educational needs, including the provision of guidelines, solutions, and additional resources
Provision of technical and educational instruction through accessible platforms, including web-based, hands-on, and workshop-derived activities
Effective and meticulous testing and evaluation of technologies and methodologies developed for the advancement of forensic science
Development of effective strategies that simplify the adoption of new technologies and methodologies into forensic science practice
Support to the NIJ research and development program through portfolio management and technology transition assistance
The FTCoE has established itself as a leader for the advancement of forensic science within the criminal justice community. This has been achieved through the implementation of new methodologies derived from successful production of resources addressing education, practice and policy development, and technology adoption. Our unprecedented blend of expertise, experience, and knowledge in forensic science—combined with our objectivity and national reach to include all justice program stakeholders— allows the FTCoE to deliver practical and valuable solutions to the forensic science community, thereby bridging the gap between the scientific and the justice communities.
