• The interior and exterior area of a bite mark should be swabbed with new sterile swabs slightly moistened with distilled water
• Separate swabs should be used for the interior and exterior of the bite mark, and the swabs should be labeled
• Air-dry the swabs and package them separately in labeled paper envelopes
• Do not use plastic bags or containers
• Store the evidence as cold as possible
