Grinding is the work of an abrasive material against metal. A grinding wheel is a bound mass of grit formed from materials harder than steel. Rotated at high speed, grinding wheels remove a significant amount of material in a short time. Depending on the size of the grit, the resulting surface can be crude or refined.
