The Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) has developed a code of ethics as a guide to the ethical conduct of those working in the field of firearm and toolmark examination. Although it is recognized that individual cases may vary, it is expected that all practitioners serve the interests of justice to the best of their ability at all times. The motives, methods, and actions of the examiner should at all times be above reproach and consistent with proper moral conduct.

The AFTE code of ethics can be viewed from their website at the following link.
