This publication is a technical note to the white paper “Evolving Approaches and Technologies for Seized Drug Analysis” describing analysis of marijuana and marijuana products.
This technical note to the white paper “Evolving Approaches and Technologies for Seized Drug Analysis” summarizes the different types of sample preparation and instrumental methodologies that can be leveraged to identify marijuana and marijuana products. Although not an exhaustive list, the instrumental methods discussed include the following: gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID); gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS); direct analysis in real time high-resolution mass spectrometry (DART-HRMS); liquid chromatography-ultraviolet spectroscopy (single wavelength or diode array) (LC-UV); and Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (e.g., LCMS/MS, LC-HRMS). In addition, the authors discuss options for semi-quantitative and quantitative testing.
