NIJ seeks applications for funding of investigator-initiated proposals for evidence-based nonpartisan analyses of existing evidence to examine how observed racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system might be reduced through public policy. NIJ is interested in receiving proposals for research in either the criminal or juvenile justice context, or both. 

NIJ seeks applications for funding to support the Research Assistantship Program (RAP), DePaul University.

NIJ seeks proposals for independent, rigorous evaluations of projects to be selected for funding under fiscal year 2022 OJP Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) solicitation.

NIJ seeks applications for funding for research and program evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and reduce intentional, interpersonal firearm violence in the United States.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for funding for rigorous research and evaluation projects from accredited academic institutions   in partnership with supervising agencies to design, implement, and test parole   or probation supervision models that reduce revocations for technical violations while ensuring successful re-entry and minimizing recidivism through adoption of appropriate revocation policies coupled with evidence-based services. Applicants to this solicitation must be accredited academic institutions.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that examine (1) the impact of the reallocation of police resources consequent to redefining police mandates on  public safety and public services; (2) implementation and sustainment of long-term organizational change in policing agencies; and (3) police recruitment, retention, and training in today’s environment.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects to advance our understanding of intentional, interpersonal community-based violence, including firearm violence.

NIJ seeks applications to support the operations of the Committee on Law and Justice of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and its work to develop knowledge to inform public policy interventions that: support the fair and impartial administration of  justice for all Americans, restore trust in the Justice System, and support the reduction of crime and recidivism.

NIJ seeks applications to support projects designated for funding in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022 (Public Law 117-103) that improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, prevent or combat juvenile delinquency, and assist victims of crime (other than compensation).

This solicitation seeks applications for research and evaluation studies to produce practical knowledge that has the potential to improve the examination and interpretation of physical evidence in forensic science laboratories. Proposals are expected to identify the forensic science discipline(s) intended to benefit from the project.

With this solicitation, NIJ, in collaboration with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), seeks proposals for funding to support and enhance the National Juvenile Justice Data Analysis Program (NJJDAP). The NJJDAP produces vital statistical information to the field regarding juvenile risk behaviors, juvenile victimization, juvenile offending, and the juvenile justice system’s response to law-violating behavior.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous evaluations of desistance-based interventions to advance understanding of strategies that might aid in the process of desistance, including programs targeting intimate partner violence. This may include proposals to expand prior evaluation efforts to extend follow-up periods. 

With this solicitation, NIJ, in collaboration with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that inform policy and practice in the field of juvenile justice.

In collaboration with the Office for Victims of Crime, NIJ seeks applications for rigorous research and evaluation projects in three categories: 1) Evaluation of Programs that Provide Services for Victims of Crime; 2) Research on Supporting Victims of Community Violence; and 3) Financial Costs of Crime Victimization.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks investigator-initiated proposals to conduct a comprehensive evidence-based analysis of existing evidence to examine how observed racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system might be reduced through public policy. NIJ anticipates making one award.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and combat hate crimes and their effects. Though applications may cover a range of topics, NIJ is particularly interested in funding research to: (1) understand and prevent hate crime offending and reoffending, (2) identify strategies that improve the reporting, investigating, and prosecuting of hate crimes, (3) address the needs of victims of hate crimes and their communities.

With this solicitation, NIJ continues to build upon its research and evaluation efforts to better understand, prevent, and respond to trafficking in persons in the United States. Applicants should propose research and evaluation projects that — first and foremost — have clear implications for criminal justice policy and practice in the United States.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for rigorous youth mentoring research and evaluation projects to address one or more of the following priority areas: (1) increasing the capacity for achieving broad, population-level impacts; (2) understanding how mentoring can advance change mechanisms promoting positive youth development; (3) examining program participation long-term effects; and (4) optimizing program effectiveness through iterative cycles of development paired with rigorous evaluation feedback.
