NIJ is seeking an application for a sub-study that incorporates measures of delinquency and victimization at five sites of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. This program furthers the Department’s mission to provide objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to meet the challenges of crime and criminal justice, particularly at the State and local levels.

The Law & Science Program considers proposals that address social scientific studies of law and law-like systems of rules, as well as studies of how science and technology are applied in legal contexts. 

In fiscal year 2022, NIJ co-funded a project under this solicitation.

NIJ seeks applications for funding of investigator-initiated proposals for evidence-based nonpartisan analyses of existing evidence to examine how observed racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system might be reduced through public policy. NIJ is interested in receiving proposals for research in either the criminal or juvenile justice context, or both.

NIJ seeks proposals for independent, rigorous evaluations of projects to be selected for funding under fiscal year 2022 OJP Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) solicitation.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for funding for rigorous research and evaluation projects from accredited academic institutions   in partnership with supervising agencies to design, implement, and test parole   or probation supervision models that reduce revocations for technical violations while ensuring successful re-entry and minimizing recidivism through adoption of appropriate revocation policies coupled with evidence-based services. Applicants to this solicitation must be accredited academic institutions.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that examine (1) the impact of the reallocation of police resources consequent to redefining police mandates on  public safety and public services; (2) implementation and sustainment of long-term organizational change in policing agencies; and (3) police recruitment, retention, and training in today’s environment.

The NJJDAP produces vital statistical information to the field regarding juvenile risk behaviors, juvenile victimization, juvenile offending, and the juvenile justice system’s response to law-violating behavior.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous evaluations of desistance-based interventions to advance understanding of strategies that might aid in the process of desistance, including programs targeting intimate partner violence. This may include proposals to expand prior evaluation efforts to extend follow-up periods. 

With this solicitation, NIJ, in collaboration with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that inform policy and practice in the field of juvenile justice.

In collaboration with the Office for Victims of Crime, NIJ seeks applications for rigorous research and evaluation projects in three categories: 1) Evaluation of Programs that Provide Services for Victims of Crime; 2) Research on Supporting Victims of Community Violence; and 3) Financial Costs of Crime Victimization.

Though applications may cover a range of topics, NIJ is particularly interested in funding research to: (1) understand and prevent hate crime offending and reoffending, (2) identify strategies that improve the reporting, investigating, and prosecuting of hate crimes, (3) address the needs of victims of hate crimes and their communities.
