Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $1,800,597)
Smiths Heimann proposes to make a 2-dimensional sensor array on a polymer plastics foil as the base substrate for a Fast Capture Finger & Palm print device. This flexible foil contact sensor can be applied to any 1-dimensional curved surface such as a convex or concave shaped flexible holder that is designed to follow the optimum capture geometry for a non-rolled finger or palm.
