Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $600,797)

This is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver (GRID) program. GRID is based on the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Comprehensive Gang Model and includes a multi-disciplinary team approach that includes an outreach worker to encourage gang members to leave the gang and desist from crime. The study will include a process and impact evaluation that will include interviews with gang members, official records of criminal justice involvement, and ethnographic observation and interviews gathering information about program implementation. Increased understanding about the impact of this program will help inform the design of gang reduction programs.
