Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $494,433)
The purpose of these funds will be used for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Investigative Unit and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Crime Lab (HCSOCL) to establish a Hennepin County Cold Case Team (HCCCT) to identify unsolved homicides using DNA analysis. The project will have two goals. First, identify unsolved homicides or CSC cases where biological evidence exists and testing has not occurred. Second, identify unsolved homicide or CSC cases where a 'cold hit' or unidentified DNA profiles exist from previous testing.
