The research is in response to the solicitation on sexual violence within the context of violent behavior in corrections under the PREA. This study will focus on sexual violence in women's correctional facilities. The primary tasks for this project are:
Hold focus groups with female inmate, parolee groups and staff.
Create and administer exploratory individual interviews.
Conduct detailed interviews with participants in selected assault and other violent incidents.
Do record review and analysis of incident reports; disciplinary trends and the like
Analyze disciplinary housing populations
Review investigative reports
Developm questionnaire items modeled after existing instruments (e.g. Federal Bureau of Prison Social Climate Survey and Edgar and Martin's (2003) survey in the United Kingdom of Violence and Conflict.)
Pre-test the instrument to determine its validity in assessing violence and safety across various settings.
Validate of the instrument against the population.
