Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $495,957)
Syracuse University intends to implement a prototype English-Arabic Cross-Language Information Retreival System. The main goal is to mount an operational system that provides immediately necessary capabilities, which will be iteratively improved over the later phases. Syracuse will also test and evaluate the prototype system with a set of users with needs similar to intelligence analysts.
