Pathologists’ Assistants in Forensics

This training was presented as a part of the National Center on Forensics Conference at George Mason University on August 9^th, 2023. In this session, Clinical Coordinator for the Quinnipiac University’s Pathologists’ Assistant Program Jesse McCoy and Program Director at Wayne State University Pathologists’ Assistant Program VéraLúcia Mendes-Kramer discuss the implementation of Pathologists’ Assistants to help compensate for the shortage of Medical Examiners/Coroners. This session is useful for Medical Examiner/Coroner offices because it includes discussion of the scope of practice of Pathologists’ Assistants, the history of the role and, the current models for the position.
