Pathologists’ Assistants in Forensics
This training was presented as a part of the National Center on Forensics Conference at George Mason University on August 9th, 2023. In this session, Clinical Coordinator for the Quinnipiac University’s Pathologists’ Assistant Program Jesse McCoy and Program Director at Wayne State University Pathologists’ Assistant Program VéraLúcia Mendes-Kramer discuss the implementation of Pathologists’ Assistants to help compensate for the shortage of Medical Examiners/Coroners. This session is useful for Medical Examiner/Coroner offices because it includes discussion of the scope of practice of Pathologists’ Assistants, the history of the role and, the current models for the position.
