This training was presented as a part of the National Center on Forensics conference at George Mason University on August 8th, 2023. In this session, NamUs Executive Manager Donia Slack discusses the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System and how it can be used by medical examiners, coroners, forensic experts, and law enforcement. With a focus on medical examiners, Slack teaches observers the best way to utilize NamUs, and makes note of some of the successes achieved by using NamUs with cases that had seemingly hit dead ends.
This event was hosted by the National Center on Forensics under an award from the National Institute of Justice.
