This National Institute of Justice (NIJ) interactive PDF toolkit guides local law enforcement, school resource officers, and school administrators in conducting campus physical assessments, and identifying and addressing trouble spots.
Access to this free toolkit is restricted to public safety officials, school resource officers, and school administrators. To request copies, email the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) at [email protected] from your official agency email account. In the email Subject Line, type “School Safe – JTIC’s Security and Safety Assessment App for Schools,” and provide your name, title, school system or agency, and mailing and email addresses in the message body. You will receive an email with the fillable PDF file. The toolkit guides the user through the identification and addressing security needs of a school building and grounds, the recording of security needs, and the development of a school safety plan.
