Boasting some of the best equipped troubleshooting laboratories in the world, NLECTC-West uses sophisticated computer software to extract vital information from video evidence. The NLECTC-West works with law enforcement officers to help produce high-quality suspect photographs, recreate crime scenes, and obtain clearer images of suspects, license plates, or vehicles. The staff at NLECTC-West developed a list of recommended practices for law enforcement officers who have videotape evidence and they teach a course on criminal investigations tactics that is certified by the California Commission on Peace Office Standards and Training. The staff at NLECTC-Northeast offers similar expertise and services in the area of audio enhancement and analysis. Both offices have criteria for the type of evidence they accept for analysis.
