This paper presents the FAST database which contains skeletal trauma analysis data for education, training, case comparisons, and to enable researchers to easily access hands-on forensic anthropology training resources.

Abstract

The Forensic Anthropology Skeletal Trauma (FAST) database is a National Institute of Justice-funded and freely available resource that provides trauma analysis data for education and training purposes. The database features pre- and post-test imaging, data collected from advanced instrumentation during impact events, and fracture analysis data. The FAST database provides researchers the ability to explore a large sample of skeletal trauma on various regions of the human body, and to gain insights into objective trauma interpretation. The authors intend to continue the development of FAST through the addition of past and future experimental skeletal trauma research.
