Blended learning applies an integrated instructional approach to training that features multiple methods of delivering instruction. The National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) has utilized the blended learning approach in its training curriculum incorporating online course work with shorter periods of classroom instruction. The blended learning approach offers individuals with a flexible and convenient learning environment and the opportunity to interact with other learners as well. The NFSTC has created and developed several blended learning courses such as Principles of Forensic DNA for Officers of the Court, Using and Presenting Digital Evidence in the Courtroom, DNA Analyst Training Program, Firearm Examiner Training, Pattern Evidence Trainings, and Essentials of Crime Scene Investigation. NFSTC is in the process of developing a new blended learning curriculum on medicolegal death investigations.
