NIJ FY 15 Research on Sentinel Events and Criminal Justice System Errors
NIJ is seeking proposals for research on sentinel events in the criminal justice system. When bad things happen in a complex system, the cause is rarely a single act, event, or slip-up. More often, bad outcomes like wrongful convictions, mistaken prison releases, and even revictimization are "sentinel events" -- defined as significant negative outcomes that signal underlying weaknesses in the system or process.

NIJ seeks proposals to develop knowledge about the effects of personnel, programs, and activities on school safety in the United States. Applicants are expected to enter into an agreement to partner with highly qualified researchers and research organizations to test whether an intervention helps us understand what works in making schools safer.
NIJ FY 14 Evaluating the Effectiveness of State, Local and Tribal Responses to Violence Committed Against Indian Women Living in Tribal Communities
NIJ is seeking proposals to evaluate the effectiveness of State, tribal, and local programs or initiatives designed to respond to crimes committed against Native American women living in tribal communities. NIJ welcomes research that will support tribal-nation building and cultural goals and values. Studies specifically designed to acquire information and knowledge that will enable tribes to make informed decisions about policies, programs, and community action that address violence against and victimization of American Indian and Alaska Native women are preferred.

NIJ FY 14 National Criminal Justice Technology Information Resource Center
With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals to operate a National Criminal Justice Technology Information Resource Center within the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) System. This center will assist federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement, corrections, and courts agencies in (1) identifying effective tools and technologies to meet their operational needs; and (2) adopting them into practice. This center also will administer the NIJ Standards and Testing Program as part of its larger effort to identify effective tools and technologies.

NIJ seeks proposals for funding to host the Small, Rural, Tribal, and Border (SRTB) Regional Center within the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) system. The primary role of SRTB center has been to provide technology assistance to SRTB law enforcement agencies. This was mainly accomplished by providing them access to information on tools and technologies that may meet their unique operational needs. NIJ now seeks to change how the center carries out its duties and expand its focus.
NIJ FY 14 Online Flight Data and Incident Reporting System for Public Safety Use of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)
NIJ seeks proposals to develop, host, and maintain a web-based, online flight data and incident reporting system to, subject to law enforcement and national security concerns and limitations: (1) collect fight-operations data from law enforcement and other public safety agencies from their use of sUAS (defined as UAS weighing less than 55 lbs.); and to (2) make that information publically available for analysis by entities interested in the use of sUAS in the national air space (NAS).
