Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $499,005)
The goal of the proposed project is to mine toxicology data (acquired using Liquid Chromatography Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry) from over 93,000 suspected drug-related deaths and 30,000 suspected drug-impaired driving cases in 40 states since 2016.
The project will develop queries to retrieve, parse, sort, and index data, and create data analysis tools to routinely generate trend reports with near real-time results on drug surveillance, including routine, novel, and emerging opioids. All generated data will be placed in the public domain on a monthly basis through the CFSRE website for use by law enforcement, forensic science, and public health communities.
This project contains a research and/or development component, as defined in applicable law, and complies with Part 200 Uniform Requirements - 2 CFR 200.210(a)(14).
