Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $198,725)
With funding from the United States Department of Justice, National Institute for Justice's "Solving Cold Cases with DNA" a Cold Case Review Team (CCRT) will be created. Three LCSO veteran homicide investigators will be paid overtime to systematically review cold cases for DNA as well as possible new leads or potential suspects. The sole purpose of the CCRT is to find DNA to help solve 82 cold case homicides which have already been identified.
