Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $304,657)
It is now routine for forensic laboratories to generate genetic profiles from trace biological evidence ('touch evidence'); however, the tissue source of the profile is rarely known. The researchers propose to perform a thorough evaluation of the nature and origin of biological material in trace evidence samples and to develop strategies to provide definitive identification of the tissue source of origin of such evidence, optimized collection and removal strategies to recover the biological material and improved method for genetic profiling of bio materials from touched objects.
