Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $300,450)
The primary objective of the project is to identify age-specific biomarkers with the ultimate aim of designing assays that may be used to predict the biological age of a sample donor. This work will take advantage of the knowledge that an individual's age is innately associated with genetic changes. Candidate genes will be identified based upon the understanding of the physiology and biochemistry of human development. These candidate genes will be used to design multiplex assays capable of estimating the age of the individual that deposited the biological evidence.
