Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $221,092)
The purpose of this award is to continue the activities of their previous award. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) 2007 'Solving Cold Cases with DNA' award utilized funds to pay overtime to existing MCSO personnel to review numerous cold cases and submit a significant amount of items for DNA testing which have resulted in a number of cases solved, including 'hits' from the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The MCSO has been able to 'fine tune' its program. NIJ reviews along with an audit have resulted in excellent ratings for the MCSO.
