Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $250,000)
The MSP-FSD requests $250,000 in funds under the 2009 Appropriations Bill to address the goal of DNA casework reduction in the state of Maryland. To this end, MSP-FSD will pursue and meet three objectives during the grant period.
o Objective #1 is to eliminate the current DNA casework backlog.
o Objective #2 is to assist local DNA laboratories in need of help with their backlogs.
o Objective #3 is to provide expert testimony of outsourced casework when needed.
