Award Information
The objectives of 2007-DN-BX-K197 are to develop two panels of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for forensic work: a panel for individual identification that would be applicable irrespective of ethnicity, and a panel suitable for refined inference of ancestry. The individual identification SNP panel (called the IISNP panel) has been completed. The goal of the continuation is to finalize an optimized panel of SNPs that will allow law enforcement investigators to accurately estimate the ancestral origins of an unknown individual. The final ancestral Identification SNP panel (called the AISNP panel) will be made public immediately upon finalization with all associated allele frequencies.
