Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $500,000)
The Ohio Attorney General's Office will provide continued funding for the operations of four countywide, multi-agency cold case task forces in Ohio in search of cases that might be solved with DNA. Cases will be identified, prioritized and investigated according to established protocols. Funding will also be used for DNA testing, either in-house or outsourced to qualified laboratories, for the cases submitted by the squads. Expected results include an increase in the number cold cases analyzed for DNA evidence and closed.
