The City of Detroit's "Cold No More" Program has 2 main goals. First they will create a Joint Cold Case Team to create a more efficient, organized and improved Homicide Cold Squad Unit where Detroit Police Officers, prosecutors, forensic scientists and medical examiners work collaboratively to solve cold cases using DNA analysis. Second, they will increase the production of the Cold Case Squad by increasing the number of DNA homicide cold cases reviewed each month, thus increasing the overall homicide cold cases reviewed, by at least 33 percent over previous (non-grant funded) months (9 cases monthly previously to 12 cases), increasing the number of DNA homicide cold cases subjected to DNA analysis, increasing the number of homicide cold cases which yield DNA profiles, increasing the number of homicide cold cases, with DNA, that are entered into CODIS, increasing the number of CODIS hits, and increasing the number of DNA cold cases closed each month, thus increasing the overall cold cases closed, by at least 50 percent over previous months.
