Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $125,000)
This is the completion of a project to develop a standard by which less-lethal kinetic energy rounds can be evaluated. These standards will be a tool for use by local law enforcement agencies to compare munitions. Various test fixtures will be explored for integration into a test standard. Once this standard is established it will allow law enforcement to be able to compare various kinetic energy rounds and have an understanding as to how the rounds were tested. Currently manufactures are devising their own tests to evaluate the rounds and it is inconsistent between manufacturers.
