Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $494,974)
The goal of this effort is to develop a millimiere wave (MMW) weapons detection portal. Phase I efforts will be to demonstrate body imaging, using a 10 element linear array which has high-performance, high frame rate, and highly sensitive COTS mmW detectors. Phase II, will use Phase I results to fabricate and integrate a properly sized linear array into a demonstrable scanning system, enabling state and local law enforcement and correction personnel to obtain high-throughput concealed weapons detection screening of 4000 subjects in 1 hour. The complete imaging system will scan each subject waiting in line for a venue or entering a correction facility within 0.5 seconds.
Deliverable is a prototype at the end of each phase.
The majority of the users of this technology will be local law enforcement.
