Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $45,444)
This award will provide funding for Towson University to develop a new approach to geographic profiling, using mathematical methods and incorporating geographic factors. The project involves developing a new algorithm based on Bayesian statistical techniques, and producing a prototype software application that implements the algorithm. The project utilizes students in programming and software development. The software package will be freely available to researchers and law enforcement agencies.
