Continued Operation of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center, Rocky Mountain Region

The University of Denver will continue operations and maintenance of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center- Rocky Moutain (NLECTC-RM). This center provides scientific and engineering advice and support, information, and outreach services to the law enforcement and corrections communities, as well as to school safety officials and resource officers in the Rocky Mountain region.

This effort provides administrative support to the National Bomb Squad Commanders' Advisory Board to facilitate their participation in meetings and demonstrations to assist NIJ in: (1) identifying the technology needs of State and local bomb squads; (2)evaluating potential solutions to those needs; and (3)assessing the merit of differing approaches to development of potential solutions. It supports the adoption into practice of tools and technologies to combat terrorism.

The National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center- Rocky Mountain, will support the Office of Science and Technology research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) process by assisting in the identification of State and local criminal justice agency technology needs and operational requirements; coordinating testing, demonstration, and evaluation of new technologies emerging from the OS&T R&D cycle to assist State and local agencies with their purchasing decisions; and assisting in capacity building and technology assistance to the public safety community. The principle focus of NLECTC-Rocky Mountain will be supporting NIJ's RDT&E Process by hosting those TWGS associated with the Bombs, Corrections, and PPE portfolios. RM NLECTC will participate at conferences/exhibitions and manage activities in support of the RDT&E process.
