The Massachusetts Department of Corrections requests continue support of the Northeast Technology Product and Assessment Committee (NTPAC). The committee was initially established with members from each of the thirteen correctional agencies throughout the Northeast region of the United States. Members are identified by their respective Commissioner's to attend these meetings and are given the authority to test and purchase products and new technologies for their agency. The Committee meets on a quarterly basis to share information regarding emerging technologies and products that are beneficial to the correctional field. The committee has developed a secure web-site that is used to promote the information that is shared during the conferences as well as updates of those latest correctional products. With this funding the NTPAC will continue to create new partnerships with other states and agencies in different regions of the country by: (1) Increase membership by adapting the geographical template of NIJ's NLECTC-Northeast regional area and expand into the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, and Michigan; (2) Expand the NTPAC model to other states nationally and assist in the creation of other similar regional forums. This process will assist in the development of a more global, inclusive, and a cost effective national model; and (3) Current website will be redesigned and open to the public, to include other corrections practitioners nationally.
