Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $496,750)
This funding is for the project titled, "Northern Illinois Police Crime Laboratory Improvement." This proposal is being submitted by the Northern Illinois Police Crime Laboratory to maintain, improve and bring new services to the 39 agencies that we provide forensic service. All sections of NIPCL will improve efficiency with new equipment, computers, supplies and infrastructure. The goals of the project are 1) reduce case backlog in all sections using overtime 2) update general equipment in the lab 3) additional and modern equipment that will enhance operations and offer new analytical techniques 4) provide DNA supplies for unexpected case load increases 5) support activities associated with the lab's relocation.
