Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $49,908)
The research and development proposed by Language Systems Inc. (LSI) continues previous work in speech-to-forms and speech-to-speech translation, with particular emphasis on applications for corrections facilities. The proposed development project has two major objectives: 1) to extend and enhance the PC-based speech to forms translation capability developed for NIJ under an earlier phase of the current project by extending the repertoire of the recognizers, translators, and forms interface to include a vocabulary and additional forms suitable for the selected agency application; 2) to conduct field tests of the enhanced speech-to-forms system with the designated agency, collect user feedback for system improvement, and upgrade the capabilities of the system. The upgraded system will then be evaluated by an independent agency to be selected by NIJ.
