The proposed study will be the first randomized trial of two promising manualized 16-session one-to-one educational and therapeutic interventions for complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to test their efficacy for the prevention of intergenerational involvement in criminal activities by enhancing the functioning and parenting of high-risk or previously incarcerated mothers of young children: (1) Trauma Adaptive Recovery Group Education and Therapy (TARGET); (2) Present Centered Therapy (PCT).
