project summary 2003-lp-cx-k019
The city of Chandler Police Dept. will use these funds to acquire equipment that will increase the efficiency of latent fingerprint acquistion and examination through automation. Currently, the Chandler Police Dept, uses film-based 35mm cameras to photograph latent fingerprints. The film is processed off site by the statelaboratory resulting in an average backlog of approximately 25 cases at any given times and an average turn around time from three weeks to two months. The use of digital photography will eliminate the turnaround time required for film development and cases will not be dormant while the film is being processed.
