Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $993,500)
The University of Houston (UH) will conduct research and engineering on projects that it jointly identifies with NIJ and industry to investigate the feasibility of new in-car law enforcement vehicle technology. UH will work closely with Visteon, who has designed a system to consolidate the multitude of stand-alone control heads found in a typical law enforcement vehicle and provide significant functional and ergonomic improvements to the police vehicle environment.
