Identix Inc. is the manufacturer of the patented portable combination live-scan fingerprint and photo capture system, Identification Based Information System (IBIS), processed through a Remote Data Terminal (RDT). Identix is a specialized manufacturer of the electronic component systems and parts of the IBIS and RDT. This system, in conjunction with an interface to the law enforcement's fingerprint database provides real-time suspect identification to the law enforcement personnel working in the field as well as correctional personnel. Use of IBIS/RDT will assist law enforcement agencies in investigating crimes within a more comprehensive context and expedite the investigative process, reducing the critical time factor. The system has been fielded and the short fall of the system is the time necessary for a response. This grant will analyze and implement methods of improving response time.
