PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 98-DN-VX-0017
This is a supplement to NIJ grant 98-DN-VX-0017, under which the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory has implemented PCR-based DNA STR analysis for casework and database testing. This phase of the project will address the need for additional instrumentation to meet the increasing throughput needs of the DNA Unit. New legislation has recently increased the number of offenses for which offender samples must be included in the state database and sample submissions are expected to double at a minimum. The enhanced capacity that this equipment will allow will benefit all law enforcement agencies in the State of Connecticut, as well as out-of-state agencies using the lab's services.
