In this presentation, John Butler from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) provides an update on the current activities of the National Commission on Forensic Science (NCFS) and Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC). Discussion topics include; introduction to NCFS members, the formation of the six initial NCFS subcommittees, an overview of the May 12-13, 2014 and August 26-27, 2014 meetings as well as a detailed synopsis of the OSAC and Scientific Area Committee (SAC) structure. Lastly, the presentation includes insight to possible mechanisms and considerations for technology adoption relevant to forensic science.
