Originally presented at the 2014 Genome ID Forum, this presentation discusses the role of the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory’s Emerging Technologies Section in the evolution of developing new strategies and imploring new technologies to resolve exceptionally challenging DNA samples submitted to the laboratory for identification. An overview of the Laboratory’s new Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) instrumentation and protocol development is discussed including experimental design utilizing multiple forensic markers and the impact on sample processing.
