Transforming a Shipping Container to a Mobile Lab
Created from a standard shipping container, mobile forensics laboratories measure 8' x 20' x 8.5' and provide a maximum of 400 square feet of usable space. The transformation from shipping container to laboratory takes less than an hour and includes an access-controlled entryway and full data sharing capabilities.
To set up the laboratory, five walls are erected, providing additional "bumped out" space for workers to use. Set up begins with one side of the container being pushed out and locked into place, becoming the roof of the space. Next, under the roof two side walls are pushed out and locked into place. The floor is then lowered, providing the base. To enclose the laboratory, one final wall is raised and locked into place. The access-controlled entryway is then connected, complete with steps and a landing area.
