This short video, one in a series of videos that address issues in the criminal justice system’s processing of cases under state stalking laws, suggests what prosecutors can do to facilitate the effective management of stalking cases.

Abstract

In the format of instructive advice, a staff member of the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, & Resource Center (SPARC) advises that prosecutors should be familiar with the stalking laws of their states and determine the kinds of evidence needed to bring charges and increase conviction rates for stalking. In order to facilitate the effectiveness and efficiency for managing stalking cases, prosecutors should advise police investigators of the types of evidence prosecutors need to bring a stalking case to court. In addition, prosecutors should inform law enforcement investigators of the types of evidence needed for the prosecutor to bring a charge of stalking.
