The program was funded by the Department of Justice in 1988, discontinued for 3 years, and funded again in 1992. The results of the evaluation indicated support for the program, the need for greater awareness of the consultation service the program offers to attorneys, the need to assess training needs of both public and private attorneys, a greater effort to solicit relevant legal briefs for the brief bank, and the inclusion of certain revisions in the recently-distributed Drug Defense Manual.
