Officers have many excuses for not wearing their vests when performing such duties; e.g., a high-visibility vest makes them a target; and they are too difficult and time-consuming to put on after a traffic stop. The free online video at ResponderSafety.com addresses these excuses with data on how wearing a high-visibility vest can save their lives when conducting road-side or traffic-management duties. Relevant Federal regulations are also reviewed. The 1-hour training module uses a combination of resource materials, dash cam and news footage that emphasizes the dangers officers face when performing traffic-related duties, and video segments that encourage officers to improve their personal safety by wearing their high-visibility gear. The self-paced training includes a post-test and a certificate of participation. Those who earn this certificate of completion can then download a handout that covers the major points of the course. It is intended for personal use only.
